Honest limit: it makes existing radios more efficient — it does not create coverage where no radio reaches at all.

Fewer bytes on expensive or thin backhaul — prepaid data, satellite, a metered SCADA link. The win is real and measured, and the case where it loses is printed right next to it.

Honest limit: it beats general-purpose xz, not every specialised dictionary scheme; the gain is content-dependent.

Move 5–20× fewer bytes and the energy, carbon and cost fall with them. The model is transparent enough to hand a lender or an auditor and let them turn every dial themselves.

Honest limit: this is a model, not a meter — internet energy-per-GB is genuinely contested, so it defaults conservative and exposes the coefficient. Real figures need instrumented nodes (roadmap).
